Meet DGL's Newest Principal
/DGL Consulting Engineers, LLC is proud to announce that Ahmed Hamid, PE has been named a Principal of the firm and Director of Construction Services. Since joining DGL in 1999, Ahmed has served as one of DGL’s most versatile construction project managers and senior structural engineers. He has over sixteen years of design experience that includes bridge design and inspections, industrial building design, hydrology and hydraulic analysis of bridge structures, and construction administration. Ahmed’s leadership skills have become notable in numerous areas that resonate with the values for which DGL is known:
track record of developing creative solutions to complicated project issues
proactive responsiveness to customer service
ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, and other consultants
In addition to his engineering design experience, Ahmed has led construction phase services on behalf of DGL. He has served as an owner’s representative and provided construction support to many contractors during this critical segment of a project, developing critical path method (CPM) schedules, conducting value engineering, and providing construction observation for specification compliance. These services have been extended to both public and private clients, including ODOT, the Ohio Turnpike Commission, the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, The Anderson’s, and Midwest Terminals of Toledo, to name just a few.
Ahmed earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master Degrees in Civil Engineering from The University of Toledo, in 1996 and 2000, respectively. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the States of Ohio and Michigan and is a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Ahmed and his wife, Laura, reside in Waterville, Ohio, where they are raising their two sons, Zain and Zakariya.
In announcing Ahmed as a new Principal, Steve Way also recognized the contributions made to the firm by Ken Ducat, PS, a Professional Surveyor who recently stepped down from firm ownership after 18 years. “We are extremely grateful to Ken for the role he has played in shaping DGL, and are pleased that he will remain an active employee of the firm.”
