Civil Engineer - Development

Position Information

DGL is looking for a well-rounded civil engineer to enhance the qualifications of our rapidly expanding Facility/Site Development Division. As a multi-disciplinary engineering and survey firm, success in this position will require the ability to coordinate all aspects of a project within the civil discipline.

  • Reports to Senior Project Manager and/or Director of Facility/Site Development

  • Full-time, Exempt

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and reports

  • Coordinate and communicate with clients to determine project scope

  • Develop project proposals for civil work including determining scope and fee

  • Contributes daily management of projects

  • Coordinate with other engineers and architects on project requirements

  • Supervise and mentor designers for drawing and report production

  • Prepare drawings and specifications in accordance with project requirements

  • Provide quality control and design checking of project drawings and specifications

  • Review shop drawings, RFIs and respond to other construction questions

Skill Set

  • Proficiency in site layout, utilities, grading, drainage and erosion control

  • Recent experience with interpreting planning and zoning code requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required; Civil 3D experience preferred

  • Knowledge of engineering design tools and software

  • Must be well organized with the ability to multitask

  • Able to work on various size projects

  • Professional demeanor

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID required

  • Some tasks may require travel to complete. Time and mileage would be reimbursed (mileage at current Ohio Department of Transportation rates) based on current reimbursement policies.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited institution with 4-8 years of civil/site experience

  • Experience in design of commercial, institutional and/or industrial

  • Engineering Intern Certification required; Professional Engineering license preferred.
