Survey CAD Technician
/Position Information
Assist Survey Manager and Senior CAD Technician by using a general understanding of land surveying procedures and terminology as well as surveying software applications necessary for the planning, implementation, correction and quality review of surveying tasks. Able to perform and/or review technical procedures for topographic, boundary and route surveys with a general knowledge of local municipalities, processes and procedures; not limited to other survey functions as assigned.
Reports to Survey Manager
Full-time, Non-Exempt
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with drawings, sketches, calculations and record keeping.
Assists in the research of land records, deeds, subdivision maps, easements, etc.
Assists in performing boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout.
Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
Complete other survey tasks as assigned and performs related duties as assigned.
Work in a safe manner, abiding local, company and client safety requirements.
Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and the public
Update job knowledge continuously regarding planning, community design and sustainability issues, ideas and methods as well as engagement tools and strategies, and is knowledgeable in current trends, practices, technology, and information affecting the planning profession.
Technical support to engineering, communications, and business management teams
Skill Set
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Products Suite
Working knowledge of land surveying and Trimble Business Center
Familiar with survey field equipment and care
Must be well organized and able to manage deadlines
Able to work on various size projects
Ability to travel, including overnight, as needed
Professional demeanor
Ability to communicate effectively
Valid Driver’s License, in good-standing, required
Education
Education: Degree preferred, or equivalent training with 3 years of surveying experience
Experience: Three years’ job-related experience
