Our construction inspectors are working throughout Northwest Ohio to ensure our clients’ projects are continuing as planned and in accordance with requirements, standards and regulations. We are proud to be working with the City of Port Clinton again on the OTT-Jefferson Street Reconstruction project. This much-anticipated major downtown road reconstruction project is underway, despite the flooding that occurred last month. The City experienced record high Lake Erie water levels, which caused flooding in the area. However, our lead inspector, Matt Myers, reports the project is progressing well and remains on schedule. Major project completion is scheduled for mid-September 2020.

The City’s plan for the project includes improvements and reconstruction of Jefferson Street from Third Street, north of the overhead railroad bridge to the Portage River. The intersection at Perry Street and the north end of Jefferson Street will be resurfaced after underground work is completed. Underground work includes a new storm sewer system and replacement of the existing combined sewer. A 20,400gpm lift station with a prefabricated control building will be installed along the south side of the entrance drive to Waterworks Park and discharge to the Portage River. Also included in the project are decorative light poles, stamped asphalt crosswalks at all intersections, new signage and pavement markings.

The City’s leaders are committed to providing the traveling public with safe roadways all while practicing fiscal responsibility. The total estimated construction cost for this project is $2.9 million. ODOT awarded the city a $2.5 million grant through Ohio’s Small Cities grant program. Port Clinton also pursued additional funding through ODOT's Transportation Alternatives program, as well as the Ohio Public Works Commission. This Jefferson Street reconstruction project is comparable to the City’s Madison Street project that DGL also worked on. The City was awarded $2.34 million for that downtown revitalization project.
