The Lucas County Engineers’ five-year capital improvement plan included the intersection of Stitt and Waterville-Monclova Roads within Monclova Township. After the intersection was evaluated for appropriate traffic control, it was determined a one-lane modern roundabout was the most suitable application. A roundabout provides a safe intersection with increased capacity and lower delays.  It provides a benefit for all modes of traffic and reduces fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. DGL’s final design included new asphalt and concrete pavement, curb and gutter, drainage improvements, earthwork, pavement markings and signing for the project. This design has proven to be safe, environmentally beneficial and has resulted in positive feedback from the local community.
